Much like the White Neoballs, the coating on these Black neodymium magnetic spheres are opaque with a sexy matte finish. Sleek like black piano keys, obsidian, a clean blackboard, or the night - this coating offers increased longevity, a warmer initial touch and softer contact sound when connected. Yes, that’s right. In studies based mostly on science, we found that the color black is quieter than the other colors. These are like magnet sphere ninjas, or like neodymium ball stage-hands,or a panther, which is also black and quiet!
Colors won’t fade with soft abrasion and if used gently, the coating can last for years. The matte texture diffuses reflections, but is still slippery smooth to the touch.
The coating is strong & thin, but still soft compared to Electro Neoballs. Polymer coatings are too precious to withstand high speed impacts, or rough kneading. Polymer coatings are DEFINITELY too precious to give to children under the age of 12. More so, they are too DANGEROUS to give to children under the age of 12, because they - for whatever reason - swallow them and require surgery. So keep pretty, shiny Neoballs away from small children
Not susceptible to oxidation, rusting, tarnishing, and moisture erosion, this coating is very strong.
Okay shape and size consistency of magnets. The size variance of these magnets is ± 0.05mm. Currently, this is the tightest tolerance available for this style of magnet.
Some shielding to collision, scraping, hitting and dropping. These magnets will not withstand high speed impacts, collisions, or rough kneading without chipping or denting coating.
Very good strength against rubbing, wiping, brushing, and kneading.

I ordered these to add to the rainbow set I purchased. I have yet to develop the proficiency for working with them in a skillful way, but I have made a few shapes and I really like the looks of them as well. They are of high quality and the colors are vibrant.
A note to anyone who has not experienced powerful magnets before, definitely heed the warnings about them. They are incredibly strong. If I had pets or small children in the house, I probably wouldn't have them around at all.

Got these for my 12 yr old son. With the current state of school at home it has been great in helping him focus when listening to online classes. I have also enjoyed manipulating and creating with these magnets. I think these are appropriate and great for all ages and activities.
