Blackening spring sky // Thunder crashes, lightning bolts. // Dog starts to whimper.

Haiku by Kevin McLaughlin

Much like the White Neoballs, the coating on these Black neodymium magnetic spheres are opaque with a sexy matte finish. Sleek like black piano keys, obsidian, a clean blackboard, or the night - this coating offers increased longevity, a warmer initial touch and softer contact sound when connected. Yes, that’s right. In studies based mostly on science, we found that the color black is quieter than the other colors. These are like magnet sphere ninjas, or like neodymium ball stage-hands,or a panther, which is also black and quiet!

Colors won’t fade with soft abrasion and if used gently, the coating can last for years. The matte texture diffuses reflections, but is still slippery smooth to the touch.

The coating is strong & thin, but still soft compared to Electro Neoballs. Polymer coatings are too precious to withstand high speed impacts, or rough kneading. Polymer coatings are DEFINITELY too precious to give to children under the age of 12. More so, they are too DANGEROUS to give to children under the age of 12, because they - for whatever reason - swallow them and require surgery. So keep pretty, shiny Neoballs away from small children

All Polymer neodymium magnet balls feature a ± 0.05mm tolerance.

Comes with:

  • 216 Black Neoballs (5mm) Magnet Spheres
  • Sliding Metal Case
  • The compulsion to dress in all black, wear eyeliner and studded accessories

Cyan Neoball Corrosive Resistance

Not susceptible to oxidation, rusting, tarnishing, and moisture erosion, this coating is very strong.

Cyan Neoball Geometric Tolerance

Okay shape and size consistency of magnets. The size variance of these magnets is ± 0.05mm. Currently, this is the tightest tolerance available for this style of magnet.

Cyan Neoball Impact Hardness

Some shielding to collision, scraping, hitting and dropping. These magnets will not withstand high speed impacts, collisions, or rough kneading without chipping or denting coating.

Cyan Neoball Abrasive Strength

Very good strength against rubbing, wiping, brushing, and kneading.

Neoballs are premium sculpture magnet spheres by the Zen Magnets Company. 5mm diameter, n35 grade neodymium, all Coated rare earth magnets feature a ± 0.05mm tolerance.  Due to our constant struggle for perfection, colors may vary slightly from batch to batch. We are the last American magnet sphere company, and the only one still fighting for the right to sell High Powered magnet sets in the US. Buy your balls from a company with balls - purchase Black polymer coated Neoballs now.

Disappointed, packaging destroyed

The item came in destroyed packing, really dissatisfied as I have purchased form Zen Magnets before and received excellent shipping and handling. Product was extreme quality, this however was not. The box the magnets were in, was heavenly hit for multiple sides and covered in a thick layer of dust (wipes off before pics were taken). THIS WAS NOT THE BROWN SHIPPING BOX this was the actual container of the magnets. All the magnets were in a big clump probably due to the poor care and heavy hits. Definitely expected MUCH more then what I received. Especially since I was considering getting this as a Christmas gift, and didn’t expect getting this embarrassing mess. Could be just me, but paying for an $80 set of magnets I expected much higher quality, and you should too. If your looking to gift to someone, don’t buy these or from this seller expecting a good looking gift. Currently I have no clue what to do with it as the box is hopeless for wrapping. You can see in images the entire box has buckled due to that impact or impacts and all the magnets are clumped. Unless support gives a good explanation and solution to this mess, this review will stay. This will not be gifted as planned as its just embarrassing and I will not be purchasing from Neoballs again, unless issue is resolved.

Very helpful customer service ig.

After I received this damaged package I wrote these reviews you can see below. But after I was contacted, talked to and helped with the situation. Really glad they fixed the issue. And will be coming back for more magic spheres :D

Pics to “part 2” post

The pictures didn’t post to 2nd post so here the are again. Hopefully the post this time. And no this isn’t some sort of metal attached to it it’s actual coating and it’s stuck on as part of the coating.

Update to first post. by “Ruvim L”

I’ve opened the box up... more dissatisfaction. The inside is also full of dust and other bits of trash. Keep in mind these are brand new opened 1 min ago and just in that first minute of opening them up there are already multiple defects. In pictures I’ve added are just some of the things I’m met with. Pealed and hardened coatings, extra bits of coating sticking out of the magnets. This is the very thing that will ruin all the rest of the magnets by grinding all the coatings! To add insult to injury, on the very box these came in, it has a section titled “CARE” and on it, I’ve added a picture as well. In this section it talks about how to keep these in good condition. However mine aren’t even starting in good condition how the heck am I suppose to make them last if the coating themselves are already gonna grind each other up! Again if your looking to buy as a gift, it’s hopeless someone who loves these and wants quality ones are not gonna be interested in getting this as a gift. Unless issue is resolved, I suggest not buying these. I’ll update if they reach out to me to deal with this. :/ till then it’s better to buy 4 Triumph sets instead of this. :(

Could be better, but all I could ask for is here.

So, since there are no other reviews at time of writing I decided to write one myself. When I'm using them, the magnets feel softer, I guess that term can describe them. Also warmer, since they're polymer-coated and polymer doesn't dissipate heat well from your hand to the relatively cold neodymium magnet cores, in contrast with the thermally conductive metal coating of electroplated magnets. The tolerance, of course, is *relatively* terrible. I say relatively, because there are brands that can do better (ahem, Zen Magnets) but even with 0.05mm tolerances lattices hold very tight. This is definitely one of my favorites and I sometimes finding myself using this instead of Zens. So to sum up, they're pretty nice, all you could ask for. Of course they can't be Zen Magnets quality but they're still surprisingly good.
